Besides The aesthetics, tall lawns can harbor unwelcome insects, rodents, or reptiles. It is unlawful for owners, a lessee or occupants to permit the growth of weeds, grass, or rank vegetation in excess of 10 inches in height on average. Properties served with a notice of violation of this ordinance have 10 days to address the situation. Failure to address the situation may force the Village into taking formal action, which can include the Village cutting the grass and the cost of removal being charged or accessed against the owner. In addition, persons failing to comply could be fined for the offense.
