1983 – No.1 – Providing Village not Enforce Uniform Fire Prevention Code
Section 1. Title:
This local law shall be known as the “Village of Sackets Harbor Local Law for Refusing Administration and Enforcement Responsibility of the State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code” (also known as the Uniform Code).
Section 2. Purpose:
The purpose of this local law is to meet the requirements for administration and enforcement of the new State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code. These requirements are outlined in Section 381 of Article 18, State Executive Law.
Section 3. Local Administrative Response:
Under the authority of section 381, #2 of Article 18 of the State Executive Law of the Village of Sackets Harbor hereby enacts this local law prior to the first day of July 1983 providing that it will not enforce the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code on and after the first day of January 1984. The municipality herein realizes that this local law shall be in effect until it shall be repealed, at which time the municipality shall administer and enforce the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code immediately thereafter. The Village of Sackets Harbor also acknowledges the fact that by refusing to administer and enforce the Uniform Code they may be allowing either the County or State to enforce the Code on their behalf, and in their community.
Section 4. Effective Date:
The local law shall take effect with local passage and upon filing with the Secretary of State and State Comptroller.
