Press Release
For Immediate Release April 18, 2023
Sackets Harbor, NY The Village of Sackets Harbor announces work on a construction project that will impact use of the downtown boat launch, Sentinel Bandstand, and Market Square Park.
The Village was granted $3,057,100.00 by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) for the Lake Ontario Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative or REDI program to undertake a number of projects in areas affected by the flooding of 2017 and 2019. One of these projects is the elevation and reconstruction of Market Square Park and the Village docks and boat launches. The entire sheet wall of the docks is being rebuilt to a higher elevation, and 14 finger docks are being installed at the docks. In addition, the boat launches are being reconstructed and the Sentinel Bandstand is also receiving some upgrading.
Because of the extensiveness of this work, the boat launches are unavailable for use until further notice. Additionally, the Sentinel Bandstand is also unavailable for use as well. Boaters should plan to use other launches in nearby villages for the time being. The Village will immediately announce the reopening of the boat launches as soon as they are ready. Please call the Village office at 315-646-3548 if you have any questions.
