Village Of Sackets Harbor

February 08, 2011: Mayor's Report February 2011

Greetings from the Mayor’s Office, where Valentines and Groundhogs promise an early return of Spring.  I can’t promise good weather, but I can promise an interesting and varied year in our beautiful village.

During the last Village Board meeting, the community was presented with an overview of our new Bicentennial Trail.  Time lines have been established, land owners are being contacted and a construction schedule has been planned.  For more details, contact the Village office.

·         The Village Board is evaluating a new local law to manage roller skating and skateboarding on our streets and sidewalks.  A public hearing is scheduled for March 8th,at 6:30pm during the next Village Board meeting.

·         Morgia’s Beach residents have requested and received the OK to develop, build and hook into the village water system.  The Morgia’s Beach consortium will build the water system entirely at its own expense.

·         The Village Board will start reviewing plans for the 2011-2012 budget.  The first budget work session is scheduled for February 24th at 8am in the Village Hall.

·         The 11th Annual Seaway Trail Quilt Show will be held at the Seaway Trail Discovery Center, March 19-20th.

·         An “Inside Garage Sale” will take place at Sackets Harbor Central School on Saturday March 26th from 1:45pm-5pm.

We are all looking forward to Easter festivities in April,
including the annual Easter Egg Hunt.

See you then!

Eric F. Constance, Mayor
