The Local Development Corporation has requested bids for the
clean up of the last piece of the Augsbury Oil Fields.Bids are due on July 30th and we
hope to get to complete the clean up before winter.
The Village and Town of Hounsfield are working together on a
joint recreation commission.The
commission will meet to address the community’s visioning plans and needs for
local recreation resources including parks, walking trails, ball fields and
playgrounds. If you would like to be part
of the recreation commission, please contact the Village Office.
The Village is proud to have been adopted by the 1st
Battalion – 32nd Infantryof
the 10th Mountain Division. As part of the Piece of the Rock program,LTC Kenneth Mintz, who lives locally, is
actively seeking opportunities for his battalion to provide service to the
village. We were happy to see them in
our Can-Am Festival parade, and they will be assisting in the Headstone
dedication and Memorial Service honoring General Covington in our Military
Cemetery on July 22nd.Additionally, they will be lending a hand during the 1812 Grand Tactical
coming up at the end of this month.
Two military flares have floated up on village shores
recently, and been detonated by military experts. When found, DO NOT TOUCH.These
are frequently live flares that did not discharge during training operations
and may still be dangerous.Contact the
local police or the Sheriff’s office so that the proper authorities may be
alerted to deal with them.
