The Village Board selected Don Dimonda as its citizen of the
year.Don consistently donates his time
to Village concerns and supports many of the local initiatives so important to
our Village. Please take a moment and
thank Don for his leadership and organizational support of the Galloo Island
Wind Farm Project as well as his spearheading the LDC clean up of the Augsbury
Oil Farm property.
Currently we have a new sewer plant under construction and
paid for with funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
of 2009.Until recently, the Board has
been working under preliminary approval for the same funding for a new Drinking
Water Plant. The ARRA funding has been
withdrawn but the Village Trustees will continue to work with USDA on this
project, in hopes of reinstating a similar funding program and completing the
work on the Water plant.
George McCulloch informed the Board that funding has been
obtained the funding to bid the rehabilitation construction on the Christ
Episcopal Church in the Spring of 2011.This is excellent news for one of our Villages most historic and
beautiful buildings.
Stoodley Park Tot Lot continues to see improvements with new
picnic tables and benches, plus plans for an entrance garden facing E. Main
Street. The park is especially built for
toddlers with smaller sized swings and equipment; please remind your older
children to respect the facilities, be mindful of the neighbors and pick up
their trash. The lot closes at dusk and
because of some incidents with vandalism, will be closely monitored by Village
Police.
One last reminder - the beautiful Spring weather has brought
rain and sunshine to our lawns and the grass and foliage are growing, growing,
growing.Please remember that lawn and
lot maintenance is required by law and grass must be kept less than 10 inches
tall.
